A world-patented disinfectant that kills bacteria, viruses and fungi. Virkon (Virus control) got its name from its very well-documented effect against all virus families and is used today in almost all hospitals. Virkon is a compound product which, when activated with water, forms a number of disinfecting substances, the most important of which is hypochlorous acid. Virkon also contains a degreasing surfactant, which means that there is normally no need for cleaning before disinfection. Despite its well-documented effect, Virkon is not dangerous to health, but should be used with respect just like other chemicals. Virkon is well adapted to the environment for its purpose. Constituent components occur in very low concentration and break down easily. Virkon is an acidic agent, which means that certain types of metal such as copper, brass, iron and aluminum cannot withstand a contact time longer than a few minutes, otherwise the vast majority of materials can withstand Virkon well.
