The headband model features an electrically insulated, split headband that helps reduce heat build-up on the head and plastic-coated stainless steel wire that makes the headband 3M's most robust option. The hoods are both stable and comfortable as the flat, wide headband has a soft plastic coating that provides even pressure against the head. No exposed metal makes the product "dielectric", which provides protection in areas of use where there is a risk of sparks or shocks. Carefully shaped sliders make the earmuffs easy to adjust when on the head. Wide, soft cushioning foam cushions provide high comfort, while the narrow covers provide better compatibility with other protective equipment.
